The Red Line of the Jerusalem Light Rail is Israel’s first light rail line — a ground-breaking project in the field. M.T.N. designed the line’s alignment for the CityPass group, including preliminary and detailed design, construction phasing and the signalling for every stage.
M.T.N. also designed the line’s traffic signals and transit signal priority, and prepared temporary traffic arrangements for the construction stages. The experience gained on the Red Line later formed the basis for priority systems on other projects, including the Haifa Metronit.
