The Sha’ar Akko Interchange was designed at the meeting point of National Highways 4 and 85, in order to address the existing congestion at the Route 4 / Route 85 junction, which is expected to worsen with anticipated population growth and the realization of future projects in the area. The junction is a national road intersection and required a solution that answers both current and future traffic loads.
The project placed particular emphasis on creating priority for public transportation at the interchange, including direct access to the Akko East integrated transport hub and solutions for continuous travel in dedicated public transport lanes in all directions. M.T.N. carried out the detailed design for the project, as part of the overall planning response for this junction.
